Xiaomi launched two new smartphones in the Redmi series named ‘Redmi 5’ and ‘Redmi 5 Plus’. Both the phones come with impressive specs at budget price. Priced at approximately $12, the Redmi 5 comes with Dual SIM support with Hybrid slot and is running on Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system having company’s own MIUI 9 custom UI on the top. It also has a Infrared sensor along with Fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone adding better security to the device.
The new Redmi 5 sports a 5.7 inch HD+ 18:9 2.5D curved glass display with 450 nits Brightness, 72% NTSC Color Gamut, 1000: 1 Contrast Ratio and 1440 × 720 pixels resolution. Xiaomi has powered the phone with 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 14nm Mobile Platform accompanied by Adreno 506 GPU. Furthermore, there are two variants of the phone, i.e. 2GB RAM with 16GB internal storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage memory. Both variants support expandable memory up to 128GB using microSD card.
Xiaomi Redmi 5A also seems good in camera section with its 12 Megapixel rear camera having LED Flash, 1.25μm pixel size, f/2.2 aperture and PDAF. On the front facing we get a 5 Megapixel Selfie camera with LED flash of its own. As per connectivity, the phone supports 4G VoLTE along with other standard connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS + GLONASS. Xiaomi is running the phone on 3300mAh battery.
