Asus Zenfone 5Z is a variant of Asus’s new flagship Zenfone 5. Priced at 479 Euros, the bigger variant Zenfone 5Z is a powerhouse with high end specs and build quality. It comes out of the box running latest Android 8.0 Oreo OS with company’s own ZenUI 5.0 on the top. Asus has promised to upgrade the phone to upcoming Android P too. It supports Dual SIM cards with Hybrid slot with Dual VoLTE support. There is also Fingerprint sensor adding extra security layer to the device and its contents.
The new Zenfone 5Z sports a 6.2 inch Full HD+ 2.5D curved glass Super IPS display with 19:9 aspect ratio offering 500 nits Brightness, 95.4% NTSC color gamut, DCI-P3, 1500: 1 Contrast Ratio and 2246 × 1080 pixels resolution. It has Glove Touch support and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. It comes with notch design and has 90% screen-to-body ratio with AI Display for auto color temperate adjustment.
Asus has powered it up with Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform teamed up with Adreno 630 GPU which has no doubt of stunning performance. As per RAM and storage, the phone comes in 3 different variants, i.e. 4GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64GB onboard storage, 6GB LPDDR4x RAM with 128GB onboard storage and massive 8GB LPDDR4x RAM with 256GB onboard storage memory. We can further expand the same up to 2TB using microSD card.
Coming to the photography section, Zenfone 5Z comes with Dual Rear Camera including a 12 Megapixel primary camera with dual-tone LED Flash, Sony IMX363 sensor, 1.4μm pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, 0.03s Tri Tech auto-focus/Dual Pixel PDAF/ 4-axis OIS/EIS and Pro mode with RAW support. The Secondary camera is 8 Megapixel with f/2.0 aperture, OV8856 sensor and 120-degree wide-angle lens. It has AI scene detection to detect 16 type of scenes automatically. The secondary camera lets you take portrait shots and images with wider view. For Selfie fans, we get an 8 Megapixek front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, OV8856 sensor and 83-degree wide-angle lens. The Selfie camera comes with auto portrait and Selfie panorama modes and has Face unlock apart from fingerprint sensor on the back.
Apart from that,the Zenfone 5Z comes with Dual speakers with NXP 9874 Smart AMP, Hi-Res Audio 192kHz/24b-bit, DTS Headphone: X for 7.1 channel surround sound, dual microphones, 3.5mm audio jack and FM Radio. In terms of connectivity, along with 4G VoLTE it also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS and USB Type-C (2.0).
